What to review when an adaptive running plan changes

An adaptive plan needs an accurate view of your running and schedule. When its next steps change, inspect those inputs before interpreting the change.

Check the goal and starting point

Runome Training Paths use a chosen distance and setup information about your running. The checked setup includes schedule-related choices, recent running volume and readiness context. Review those inputs before assuming an unsuitable week is simply an unavoidable part of the plan.

A suggested session is not proof that every real-world condition has been assessed. Keep your actual schedule and condition in the decision. This article is a workflow for inspecting the plan, not a prescribed weekly program.

Use a before-and-after worksheet

The following example describes what to record when reviewing an adjustment. It does not claim that Runome always makes one specific change after a missed run.

Illustrative adaptive-plan review
ItemBefore reviewWhat to verify afterward
GoalA saved 10K Training PathThe intended goal still matches
Available daysA chosen weekly scheduleUpcoming sessions fit actual availability
Recent historyOne completed run has not importedThe activity is present and correctly dated
CompletionA session appears unfinishedAny matched activity is the intended outing
Next weekA saved set of sessionsIdentify exactly which sessions or dates changed

Keep an observation such as “Tuesday's activity arrived before the next review” separate from a causal claim about every subsequent change.

Distinguish a missing record from a missed workout

If an outing was completed but its activity is absent, repair the history before treating the session as unperformed. Inspect the activity date and any completion matching. If the workout was actually missed, leave that fact visible instead of creating a fictitious record to keep the plan looking complete.

A paused path is another distinct state. Check whether the path is active before expecting progress updates. Avoid assuming that every schedule edit, restored import or skipped session triggers the same adaptation rule.

Review the next step in context

Runome Free includes 5K and 10K paths; half-marathon and marathon paths require Club. Whatever the distance, inspect the upcoming sessions and their fit with your available history and schedule. Keep longer-term preparation separate from any single pace prediction.

The missing-history guide helps with a recording gap. A first-month review helps establish a useful baseline. For feature access, use the Free and Club task guide and confirm the current details in the app before choosing a membership.
